Letter from our Principal
Dear students, parents and guardians:

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I hope you had a fun and restful summer and we look forward to our students’ return on September 6th. It has been a busy summer here at the school as we have been preparing for the addition of the 3rd grade to our building. We now are a 3rd, 4th and 5th grade school.
Over the past year and a half, we have been gradually adding activities and programs to enhance the overall school experience for our students. Among these are an advanced “STEM” program (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), the Renaissance Program which recognizes student achievement and character, a Safety Patrol, a talent show, basketball tournament, an indoor soccer tournament and St. Baldrick’s Day, which raises funds and awareness for childhood cancer. In addition, our after school “BOOST” program has been renewed by the state and is now being made available to our 3rd grade students.  These are just some of what we offer.
These activities are designed to complement our chief emphasis on academic excellence. Our teachers are committed to our students’ continuous academic growth. Our students are challenged through a rigorous curriculum, utilizing McGraw Hill’s language arts and math programs entitled “Wonders” and “My Math.” Social Studies and Science are also taught daily and round out our academic program. Our teachers employ multiple instructional strategies, giving their students a chance to work independently and collaboratively with their fellow classmates.  Students also attend daily “Specials” for music, art, library, physical education and health.
Our parents and guardians are encouraged to get involved in our school’s P.T.O., which plays an invaluable part in our school’s calendar and activities. The school seeks to communicate regularly with parents through a ‘Take Home Tuesday” folder and email, a website and school calendar, Blackboard Connect automated phone calls and in-person. I have an open door policy and parents and guardians are always welcome to stop in and share any questions, comments and concerns.
We hope to hear from you and once again look forward to the upcoming school year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Lawrence
Principal
